Other appearance details: He’s a thin person of average height for someone his age and has pale skin, often giving him a sickly look. Being a werewolf, he has many scars scattered across his body. One runs from mid-thigh to mid-hip and once looked like a bite mark. Now it looks distorted and grotesque. Remus always wears long-sleeved shirts and trousers, even in the summer, to hide the scars. He prefers earth-toned clothes, not wanting to stand out in a crowd with flashy clothing. His clothes are worn and faded, and the two robes he owns have many patches on them to keep them from falling apart.
Family: All of his family is now dead, save for his mother’s two cousins, Saoirse and Aran, who live on the Aran Islands of Ireland with their families. His mother was Gwendolyn O’Connell and her parents came from Ireland. His father was Telemachus Lupin, whose father was English and mother was French, making Remus 25% English, 25% French, and 50% Irish.

Positive personality traits: Remus has an exceptional memory and recalls things quite clearly if he takes the time to learn or review things. He’s very good at dealing with people because it’s hard to get him very angry. Remus is a very kind, gentle, and patient person. He is respectful towards everyone, even the people who cannot possibly do him any good. He’s always willing to help out and never puts himself before others. He’s also emotionally strong. Remus’ life has been hard but he looks for the good things in it, not letting all the bad things weigh him down.
Negative personality traits: He likes to be liked because he has so few friends so he’s willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. He doesn’t think much of himself and doesn’t have very high self-esteem.

Brief history: Remus’ mother had three miscarriages before she had him, so she was very protective of him ever since he was born. At the age of 3, his father offended a werewolf named Fenrir Greyback, who retaliated by biting Remus and almost killing him. Remus lived but his father, unable to cope with the grief he had caused, left his mother and him. He returned a few years later and although it took a while, his mother gradually forgave him for leaving when she saw that he no longer let his pain get in the way of his love for his family. When Remus was 11, Albus Dumbledore came to their house and told them of a way that Remus would be able to attend Hogwarts safely. Remus accepted and went to Hogwarts, making friends with James Potter, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew. He eventually fell in love with Sirius. The known events of the Marauders past happened, they graduated, and then Remus lost all his friends the night of Halloween in 1981. He went to Ireland for a time, staying with his two cousins until he moved back to his family home on the outskirts of Dartmouth, Devon. Albus Dumbledore asked him to come and teach and, knowing Harry would be there and that Sirius had escaped from Azkaban, agreed. The events of POA happened and he was reunited, although only for less than two years, with his friend and love, Sirius. The events of OOTP happened and this time he lost Sirius for good. Deeply affected by having lost his love twice, he has thrown himself into working for the Order. Remus is also becoming aware that a young Nymphadora Tonks seems to have feelings for him. At this time, he only sees her as a friend.
